Privacy Policy

Effective date and last updated: October 30, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Pacos Rescue Network ("PACOS", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you visit pacosrescuenetwork.org (the "Site") or contact us. We collect only what we need to respond to you and care for our animals, and we never sell your information.

1. Who we are

Pacos Rescue Network is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 82-0960882) located at 6402 140th Avenue NE, Redmond, WA 98052. We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy. Questions can be sent to info@pacosrescuenetwork.org.

2. Information we collect

We collect information you choose to give us through the Site's forms:

  • Contact form: name, email address, optional phone number, subject and message.
  • Adoption application: name, email, phone, city, the animal you're interested in, and household details such as home type, other pets, veterinarian and care plans.
  • Foster application: name, email, phone, city, household details, experience, availability and preferences.
  • Consent record: when you tick the email-consent box, we store that you agreed, the exact wording you agreed to, the page and the date and time.

We also collect limited technical information automatically:

  • Browser type (user agent) recorded with a form submission, to help us detect spam and abuse.
  • Standard server logs kept by our hosting provider (such as IP address, pages requested and time of request) for security.
  • A small setting stored in your browser for the current session only to remember that you closed the announcement bar.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or third-party analytics, and we do not collect payment card or bank details — donations are handled entirely by PayPal or Venmo.

3. How we use your information

  • To reply to your message or questions.
  • To review and process adoption and foster applications, including contacting you about next steps.
  • To send transactional emails related to your request (see section 4).
  • To keep records required for our nonprofit operations and to meet legal obligations.
  • To protect the Site, our animals and our community against fraud, spam and abuse.

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling or automated decision-making.

4. Email communications

We send transactional emails only — messages that are a direct response to something you asked us for, such as a confirmation that we received your form, replies to your inquiry, and status updates about your adoption or foster application. We do not send newsletters, marketing or promotional emails, and we never add you to a mailing list.

We email you only after you tick the consent box on our forms or email us directly. Every email we send includes our name, our postal address and a way to stop receiving emails. Our full practices — including how we handle bounces, complaints and opt-outs — are described in our Email Policy.

Emails are delivered on our behalf by email service providers, which may include Amazon Web Services (Amazon Simple Email Service). These providers process email addresses and message content only to deliver our emails and to report delivery problems to us.

5. How we share information

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only:

  • With service providers that help us run the Site — website hosting, secure database storage and email delivery — under obligations to protect it and use it only for our purposes.
  • With PayPal or Venmo when you choose to donate through them; their own privacy policies apply to information you give them.
  • With a veterinarian or reference you list on an application, only when needed to evaluate that application.
  • When required by law, or to protect the safety of people or animals.

6. How long we keep information

  • Contact messages: up to 24 months after our last reply.
  • Adoption and foster applications: up to 3 years after a decision, to support the animal's welfare and follow-up.
  • Consent and opt-out records: as long as needed to prove consent and honor opt-outs.

After these periods we delete or anonymize the information.

7. How we protect information

The Site is served over encrypted HTTPS. Form submissions are stored in a secured database that is not publicly accessible and can be read only by authorized PACOS personnel. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

8. Your choices and rights

  • Access and correction: ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it.
  • Deletion: ask us to delete your information, subject to records we must keep by law.
  • Stop emails: use the unsubscribe link in any email, or email us — we'll stop right away.
  • Withdraw consent: you may withdraw your consent to email contact at any time.

To make a request, email info@pacosrescuenetwork.org. We respond within 30 days and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. Depending on where you live (for example California or the European Economic Area), you may have additional rights under local law; we will honor them.

9. Children's privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. Adoption and foster applicants must be at least 18. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Third-party services and links

The Site embeds a Google map and loads fonts from Google Fonts, which may collect technical data under Google's privacy policy. We also link to external sites (such as lost-and-found pet services, PayPal, Venmo, Facebook and Instagram). We are not responsible for their privacy practices.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed. If we make significant changes, we will post a notice on the Site.
